An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our General Medicine Division.

The successful applicant will work alongside registered nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The role involves supporting patient assessment, monitoring and management, assisting with a range of clinical and therapeutic procedures, and contributing to the delivery of safe and effective care throughout the patient journey.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate, person-centered care to patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or healthcare professional.
  • Assist in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of individualized patient care, following Trust policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.
  • Support patients with their personal, physical and emotional care needs, ensuring dignity, privacy and respect are maintained at all times.
  • Obtain and respect patient consent before delivering any aspect of care and involve relatives and carers appropriately in the care process.
  • Undertake delegated clinical duties within the scope of your competence and training, escalating concerns when required.
  • Accurately document care provided and promptly communicate relevant observations and information to the registered practitioner responsible for the patient's care.
  • Perform routine clinical tasks such as urinalysis and specimen collection, accurately recording and reporting results in accordance with local procedures.
  • Ensure specimens are transported safely and promptly to the appropriate department.
  • Use safe moving and handling techniques and equipment in line with Trust policies to protect both patients and staff.
