East Cheshire NHS Trust is looking to appoint enthusiastic, self-motivated and compassionate people to join our team of Senior Clinical Support Workers.

We are looking for Senior Clinical Support Workers who are capable of working in a busy, challenging and rewarding environment who possess excellent communication skills, can maintain a high degree of confidentiality and are able to work to deadlines, provide excellent personal care to our patients and work as part of team.

Duties will include providing a high standard of care by attending to aspects of patient personal hygiene, maintaining patient tissue integrity and providing pressure area care, recording of observations, liaising with the patient's families and the general public and supporting your colleagues in providing a positive experience for the patient.

We can offer a range of working opportunities including full and part time hours covering a variety of shift patterns over a 7 day rota including early, lates and night duty, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

  • Providing patients with food and drink and assisting where needed
  • Escorting and assisting patients in visiting the toilet, washing and getting dressed
  • Supporting wound and skin management
  • Recording and documenting patient observations e.g. temperature
  • Recognising signs of deterioration and progression through observation and conversation and escalating any such matters promptly.
  • Liaising with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, porters and social workers
  • Supporting the routine of the ward including responding to visitor and patient needs

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience within healthcare / care setting

Desirable

  • Previous experience in speciality where appropriate e.g. respiratory, dementia

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in direct care/customer services
  • Care certificate
  • Successful completion of the Be AWARE to Care course (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Level 2 qualification in functional maths and English

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrate evidence of Senior Clinical Support Worker competencies (appendix 1)
  • Demonstrates good insight into roles and responsibilities of the post
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of principles of effective customer care
  • Working as part of a team
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of quality care
  • Evidence of Band 2 competency
  • Be competent in the recording of clinical sign observations
  • Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills; within a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding
  • Demonstrates literacy and numeracy skills
  • Able to present factual information and refer to questions to others where appropriate
  • Able to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
  • Basic IT skills e.g. e-mail

Desirable

  • Be competent in venepuncture
  • Be competent in cannula insertion
  • Be competent in the recordings for ECG
  • Blood glucose monitoring
