We are looking for a senior pharmacist to become a key part of shaping the pharmacy service to this area going forwards and paving the future of rehabilitation in the UK. The model is to deliver rehabilitation regionally, with the East Midlands being the first.  Within this post you will spend 3 days a week at the NRC working with other members of the pharmacy team to optimise the use of medicines  at the NRC.  Making a real difference to patient safety, patient experience and satisfaction and operational flow through the Trust.

On the other two days you will be based at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham,  teaching undergraduate students as part of the MPharm course.

Planning for the NRC is in its advanced stages, and the building will be ready in 2026. This role will be temporarily based at Queens Medical Centre before moving over to the NRC. For more details of the centre please visit the NRC website www.nationalrehabilitationcentre.nhs.uk

Main duties of the job

This is a split post  - three days a week you will be working at the National Rehabilitation Centre  to provide complex, pharmaceutical care for patients, optimising their medicines and ensuring the safe & effective transfer of care.  You will have mentoring support from the specialist pharmacist, and operational based support from the medicines management technician and medicines management assistant at the NRC.

Two days a week will be spent at the University of Nottingham School of Pharmacy, teaching the undergraduate students.  In this part of the role you will be expected:

To support the development of hospital pharmacy practice within the undergraduate curriculum

To support the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Policy in all aspects of clinical pharmacy teaching

To teach Pharmacy undergraduate students

To support coordination of undergraduate teaching between hospital practice at NUH and academia at the Nottingham School of Pharmacy

To act as a professional role model

1)    To partake in clinical pharmacy duties ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are undertaken in the relevant clinical specialty

2)     Leadership, management and divisional/service support roles

3)   To line manage and support more junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the listed directorates

4)    To take full part in the 7-day shifted rota and bank holidays duties

For the University of Nottingham:
