An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and clinically credible professional to join our team at the Health and Care Academy.

We are seeking an accomplished educator to lead the development, design and delivery of a new academic programme for practitioners working at enhanced level of practice. This is a key role that will shape the future workforce by supporting learners to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for enhanced clinical decision making and person centred care.

The successful candidate will be an experienced clinician, holding a non medical prescribing qualification and possessing demonstrable expertise in enhanced assessment, clinical examination and diagnostic reasoning skills. They will be able to act as a credible professional role model, providing expert guidance, support and advice to learners, clinical supervisors and managers.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the development, design and delivery of education for practitioners working at enhanced level of practice.
  • Support learners undertaking enhanced practice education pathways through coaching, mentoring and professional support.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical services to identify workforce development needs and educational priorities.
  • Act as an expert resource for enhanced clinical practice and clinical skills development.
  • Maintain clinical competence and professional credibility through ongoing clinical practice and continued professional development.

  • Effectively undertake a lead role in learning & teaching of academic and clinical programmes delivered at the Northumbria Health and Care Academy.
  • To enhance the reputation of the Northumbria Health and Care Academy and University of Sunderland as a centre of excellence by engaging with teaching, reach-out and research programmes in nursing and health related topics.
  • To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
