Supported by the West Yorkshire Cancer Alliance BTHFT and in combination with our primary care colleagues, the Lung Cancer Screening Programme aims to detect lung cancer early but also has many health promotion aspects. The post holder will take a role in the secondary care processing of these patients and clinical care thereafter.
The post holder will assist the clinical team to deliver diagnostic MDTs, additional lung cancer fast track clinics and data collection/processing. In addition the post holder will have the opportunity to gain skills in bronchoscopy/EBUS and pleural skills. The hospital also has a busy in-patient ward with a dedicated respiratory HDU and the post holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in this area by providing senior support to the junior staff under consultant supervision.
This post is ideal for a post PACES IMT who wants gain more experience in respiratory medicine before embarking on specialty training.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post are the day to day management of patients, wards, and out-patients. They will have the opportunity to develop specialty skills such as management of lung cancer patients, bronchoscopy and EBUS. They will be expected to manage patients in general respiratory clinics under consultant supervision. Registrars are expected to develop in-depth practice within the expectations of their skills level.
The clinical fellow will undertake any other relevant duties allocated by the Consultants, which may be necessary from time to time.
The clinical fellow will undertake to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances, and to provide prospective cover for leave of other middle grade staff.
There may also be the opportunity to participate in the Trust on call rota, for which there would be a pay supplement.

Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
- Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competencies in the specialty at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competencies in specialty by the start date of the post
- Specialty specific requirements eg MRCP, FRCS, etc where appropriate
