CLINICAL FELLOW – ST4 + LEVEL IN RENAL MEDICINE

Full time [100% clinical]

  • One Fixed Term 12 Months (ST4+ level) – starting 5st August 2026

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to perform clinical duties and carry out responsibilities expected of ST4+ level doctors and will work as one of a team of 9 registrars. As the post holder, you will be expected to provide ST4+ on-call cover for the Renal Service in a 1 in 9 rota. Those suitable candidates with CCT in Renal Medicine will be allowed to develop their subspecialty interest in Renal Medicine during this tenure. Adequate clinical management skills, research opportunities are also available to nurture individual clinical fellow career aspirations. The unit supports the clinical fellows in submitting abstracts to international and national conferences and has a very consistent and good track record. The post holder can get trained in interventional nephrology to perform all renal specific procedures [simple & complex procedures in fluoroscopy].

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • GMC registration or eligibility
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent

Desirable

  • BSc or equivalent
  • Prizes or honours in MBBS or equivalent
  • SCE Nephrology
  • National Renal Training Programme

Management Skills

Essential

  • Experience and ability to work in multi-professional team

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • • Experience of general internal medicine
  • • Experience of Renal Medicine
  • • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by the time of appointment in line with GMC standards/Good

Desirable

  • • Experience of Medicine and other specialties

Personal Attributes

Research Experience
