The post holder will participate on an On-call rota.

This post is fixed term for up to 12 months to cover long term illness.

Main duties of the job
Conducting daily ward rounds in the Children's Ward, Neonatal Unit and report to the consultant in charge.
Supervision to Junior medical team and acts as a source of advice and support to the nursing staff.
See Patients in Emergency Department when required based on clinical and team situations.
To carry out safeguarding medical examinations when adequately trained.
Attend specialist clinics as per area of interest.
See new and follow up general Paediatric patients in the clinics under supervision of consultant.
Participate in clinical/medical audit, teaching and research within the children’s service.
Managing the acute paediatric assessments working alongside clinical team with consultant support.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post-holder will be responsible to the Clinical Director of Child and Family Care Group.
During normal working hours the consultant supervision will be provided by the consultant assigned to the general Paediatric Wards, the Neonatal Unit, Paediatric Assessment Unit and the outpatient clinics.
Out-of-hours the consultant on-call provides support and supervision. The post-holder will be expected to have the skills and experience to competently manage neonates and children presenting acutely unwell and Paediatric emergencies. The post should engage with the consultant on-call for additional support as needed.

- Evidence of organising programmes and teaching medical students and junior doctors. • Willingness to teach medical undergraduates. • Participation in departmental teaching
Managment

- Knowledge of the management and structure of the NHS. • Understanding of management issues including medical discipline, clinical governance and service planning • Willingness to lead service developments
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 4 years or equivalent postgraduate training two of which must be in Paediatrics. • NLS provider • EPLS or APLS Provider

- • Full GMC registration • MB, BS or equivalent • MRPCH part 1 a & b
