An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time senior clinical fellows within the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Salisbury NHSFT. Whilst this has a core component of service provision, there will opportunity to choose a specific special interest in order for you to develop a specific skill during your time here. There is opportunity to undertake training in one of the following: infertility, outpatient hysteroscopy, menopause or vulval skin. If the candidate has an interest in obstetrics leadership, there is the option for developing this area of expertise.
The applicant must be the equivalent of ST4+ on the RCOG matrix and be able to independently run the labour ward. You will be expected to be flexible and partake in the fair share of all duties (as above). There will be an expectation that you support teaching of medical students and undertake audit, guidelines or quality improvement projects during your time here.
Main duties of the job
Salisbury District Hospital is a medium sized district general hospital with approximately 2500 deliveries per year.
The post requires some service provision including being part of a 1:8 out of hours on call rota for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. During the day (up to midnight) you will be supported by a FY2/ST1/ST2. There is a non-resident consultant out of hours.
You will also be required to support the service in antenatal clinic, labour ward day duties, gynaecology clinic and will have a minimum of one regular special interest session. Where the needs of the deanery resident doctors training allow, there may be opportunity to attend operating theatres, but any special interest will be outpatient based.
