If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Clinical Education Team as a Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support the delivery, development and evaluation of clinical skills and simulation based education across the Trust. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build their experience in teaching, simulation faculty work, assessment and digital innovation in medical education.

Working 24 hours per week (Tuesday Thursday), you will play a key part in delivering practical skills training, facilitating simulation sessions, supporting OSCEs and contributing to the educational development of medical students, PA students, resident doctors and other healthcare staff.

Main duties of the job

What Youll Be Doing

  • Acting as simulation faculty for a wide range of simulation activities, including multiprofessional scenarios.
  • Delivering clinical skills teaching to learners across multiple training levels.
  • Preparing teaching resources, equipment and digital materials for skills and simulation courses.
  • Supporting OSCE planning, question writing and assessment delivery.
  • Participating in formative and summative assessments for finalyear medical students and FY1 trainees.
  • Contributing to programmes supporting International Medical Graduates.
  • Embracing and promoting digital technology in line with the NHS Long Term Plan.
  • Attending monthly Team Meetings and bimonthly Medical Education Committee meetings.

Where You will Be Based

You will be located onsite at Rotherham Hospital within the Medical Education Centre, with your own desk in a shared office space and full access to simulation and skills training facilities.

Job responsibilities

The Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow (SCTF) will play a central role in delivering highquality clinical skills training and simulationbased education across the Trust. The post holder will act as simulation faculty, supporting the design, delivery and evaluation of clinical skills and simulation sessions for a wide range of learners including medical students, Physician Associate students, resident doctors and other healthcare professionals.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced skills in simulation-based education, digital learning, assessment, and faculty development within a supportive and innovative Medical Education Centre.

Opportunities will be available to attend faculty development courses, simulation training workshops and relevant conferences.

A desk within a shared office space will be provided, with access to simulation facilities, skills labs, digital learning tools and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Skills Training

  • Deliver practical clinical skills teaching to medical students, PA students, resident doctors and other healthcare staff.
  • Prepare and produce teaching resources, equipment and IT materials required to support clinical skills sessions.
  • Ensure teaching is aligned with curriculum requirements and Trust standards.
  • Identify learning needs and contribute to programmes supporting International Medical Graduates (IMGs).

Simulation-Based Education

  • Act as simulation faculty for a wide range of simulation activities, including multi professional scenarios.
  • Support the planning, delivery and debriefing of simulation sessions within the Education Centre and clinical environments.
  • Assist in the development, refinement and evaluation of simulation programmes across the Trust.

Assessment Responsibilities

  • Assist with OSCE planning, question generation and assessment processes.
  • Participate in formative and summative assessments for final year medical students and Foundation Year 1 trainees in both clinical and classroom settings.

Administrative & Governance Duties

  • Assist with the organisation, scheduling and coordination of simulation and clinical skills activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment outcomes and course evaluations.
  • Attend monthly Team Meetings and bimonthly Medical Education Committee meetings.
  • Contribute to audit, evaluation and reporting activities related to education delivery.

Clinical Work

There is no clinical component or on-call requirement. The SCTF can chose to undertake locum work in their own time, providing this is not detrimental to their SCTF role.

General

Clinical Governance

1. In conjunction with Consultant colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous NHS experience at Senior Clinical Fellow/Core Trainee/Specialty Registrar level for at least 24 months
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies or equivalent in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice including:
  • Good clinical care
  • Maintaining good medical practice
  • Good relationships and communication with patients
  • Good working relationships with colleagues
  • Good teaching and training
  • Professional behaviour and probity
  • Delivery of good acute clinical care Eligibility to work in the UK

Ability/skills
