Job overview

Applications are invited for the position of a  Senior Clinical Fellow in Maternal Medicine. This will be a 12 month fixed term post.

The candidate will be expected to actively participate in regional teaching sessions on maternal medicine, attend and present cases at the LOMG (London Obstetric Medicine Group) meetings.

The candidate will be expected to participate in on going audits and in research programmes in the department.

Main duties of the job

The post enjoys opportunities to train in maternal medicine under the supervision of the Clinical Lead of SWL Maternal Medicine Network; Professor Hassan Shehata and his colleagues Miss Antoinette Johnson, Dr Samantha Montes, Miss Sai Gnanasambanthan. Professor Shehata FRCOG FRCPI is also the Maternal Medicine Preceptor at The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. The candidate is expected to work closely with our four maternal medicine specialist midwives, diabetes specialist midwives and High-Risk Obstetric Teams.

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCOG part 2
  • Full registration with the GMC

Desirable

  • ALS Certificate
  • MRCOG part 3
  • Post CCT / Accreditation through Article 14

Clinical, Management & Administrative Experience

Essential

  • Working at SpR Grade
  • Clinical training and experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to work as 2nd on call
  • PROMPT or equivalent

Desirable

  • At least 1 year working at SpR Grade 3 or more
  • Completed ST2 competencies to work without direct supervision (2nd on call) and working at ST3 level
  • CTG training within the last year

Teaching, Research & Clinical Governance Experience

Essential

  • Understanding of clinical governance and participation in audit
  • Commitment to continuing medical education

Desirable

  • Experience of teaching undergraduates
  • Experience in research
  • Presentations at post graduate meetings
  • Completing and presenting audits
  • Demonstrate active role in risk management/ clinical governance/ audit
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals
