Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in General to start as soon as possible - 3rd August 2027.
The posts will be based in Singleton or Morriston hospital and will cover the 1:10 medical on-call rota at Singleton Hospital, and are aimed at those who have either completed the internal medicine training programme or are hoping to apply for an out of programme year to undertake and complete one of the following:
- A QIP (to be proposed and agreed with SBUHB in advance)
- An educational programme at SBUHB (to be agreed in advance)
- To undertake an advanced training or educational programme (to be agreed with SBUHB in advance)
When not on-call or working on your project, you will provide medical cover to your base specialty for the remaining sessions every week. This will be developed and agreed with the appropriate specialty lead. The candidate will also participate in the Singleton registrar on-call rota which will be a 1:10 rota providing overnight medical cover to Singleton hospital, and some cover to Morriston hospital.
Main duties of the job
The department of Medicine at Swansea Bay UHB are looking to recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow with training in one of the following sub-specialties:
Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Acute Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Stroke Medicine, Renal, Haematology, Palliative Care, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases and Neurology.
These posts are on a fixed term basis due to funding
You will, participate in general medical on-calls on the appropriate on call rota in Singleton/ Morriston hospital. Further details can be provided at interview or on request.
You will be required to participate in a full shift pattern with prospective cover.

Essential
- - Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practise
- - MRCP or equivalent
- - Valid Certified Basic Life Support Skills (or equivalent international qualification)
Clinical Experience
Essential
- - At least 2 years full-time postgraduate training (or part-time equivalent) in General Internal Medicine
- Knowledge and participation in CPD
- Clinical skills required of a middle grade doctor
- - Experience of dealing with unselected medical emergency admissions
Desirable
- - Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)

Essential
- - Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
- - Comprehension of core philosophy and building blocks of Clinical Governance
