Main duties of the job
The Programme Manager will provide high-quality programme and project management support across the South East London Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) Networks and Programmes, working closely with clinical, operational, corporate and system partners across the three acute Trusts. The role exists to support the delivery of agreed APC priorities by coordinating complex workstreams, strengthening governance and reporting, and enabling effective collaboration across organisations. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring programmes are well planned and being implemented, risks and issues are proactively managed, and progress is clearly communicated, contributing to improved patient outcomes, equity of access, system performance, and the effective use of shared resources across South East London.
The Programme Manager role will work across a set of networks/programmes aligned to APC priorities and programme requirements.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This role will include, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities, acting at a senior level across the SEL system:
- Support the Network/Programme Lead(s) to develop and implement a standardised work approach to managing change.
- Ensure this is reviewed regularly in line with programme and project management best practice.
- Have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of several projects across multiple networks and/or programmes, for the full lifecycle from initiation to closure.
- Ensure that all projects are supported by an appropriate governance structure. Delivering regular reports to APC Groups and Boards, escalating risks, issues, and exceptions.
- Monitor the progress of the projects against the programme/project plan, ensuring where necessary the programme/projects can adapt to changing requirements and that plans are adjusted accordingly so that the deliverables are on time, to specified quality and within budget.
- Analyse and evaluate the many diverse and conflicting issues associated with the completion of the programme and decide how resources are to be used. To be responsible for developing and tracking the progress of programme/project plans, including resource planning.
- Distilling complex qualitative and quantitative data sets into concise, easy to understand information for network and programme teams, allowing them to make decisions based on this.
- Identify and manage risks and issues associated with the projects, including the development and implementation of contingency plans. Where necessary, progress the escalation of project risks and issues which have been identified.
- Ensure that appropriate plans, documentation, and procedures are in place when transitioning from the development project to business as usual.
- Support the alignment and development of organisational; operational; clinical and workforce policies as a key enabler of effective integration.
- Provide effective communications to update stakeholders on programme/project progress.
- Deputise for the Network/Programme Lead(s) as required, expanding on knowledge, skills and experience within personal professional development.
- Link with managers and members of other functions, to address inter-dependencies and ensure alignment in approach.
