Job overview

The Security Section exists for the safety of all staff, patients, and visitors to the Hospital site.

To be responsible for monitoring the CCTV System, responding to all alarms within the Hospital and responding to duress calls made by members of the Hospital staff, patients and visitors. To deal with any aggressive patients/visitors as necessary. To be responsible for parking on the site, providing directions to visitors, searching for patients missing from the wards, assisting confused patients back to their wards and helping Hospital staff moving patients around the site where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors within the Hospital and grounds, and the protection of all Hospital assets
  • To respond promptly to incidents and emergencies within the Hospital site
  • To provide documentation, reports and liaise with outside agencies such as the Police
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all wards, departments, and outside agencies with which the Security Team comes into contact
  • To collect evidence for the Police using Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 as required
  • To represent the Hillingdon Hospital in Court, giving evidence in any cases that are involved with theft, violence or damage to Hospital property, staff, patients, or visitors
  • To escort staff, cash and patients’ property around the Hospital on a regular basis
  • To regularly monitor the car parks and issue parking tickets to staff, patients, and visitors when necessary
  • Issue keys to Hospital departments as necessary.
  • To produce and issue ID/Access Cards, maintaining electronic database records

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Person Spec

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Experience of working in the security sector

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the NHS security sector
  • Is able to utilise CCTV, Fire and Safety systems to maintain the security and integrity of the Trust
