2 x MHST School Practitioner
You will join Camden Mental Health Support Team (MHST), which is an early intervention service that provides support to children, families and schools through advice and sign posting, delivering brief evidence-based interventions as well as helping to develop and implement whole school approaches to mental health. The MHST is part of the Camden CAMHS that delivers high quality care to the local population of 0-18 years olds.
Your role will include MHST assessments, individual therapy, group work, webinars/workshops and whole school delivery of mental health promotion and various emotional and mental wellbeing projects such as capturing student voice and addressing inequalities. Camden MHST is a well-established, highly regarded innovative multidisciplinary team. We have a stable staff group that is cohesive, collaborative and supportive.
You will be well supported through individual and group supervision, staff reflective spaces as well as strong induction and on-going training and CPD activities.
Please note to be eligible for these posts, it is essential that you have training as Child Well-Being Practitioner (CWP) or Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP).
Main duties of the job
1.Provide MHST assessment to CYP allocated to your caseload.
2.Liaise with Schools/GP’s/Local Authorities and wider CAMHS Teams as required
3.Work with your Clinical Supervisor and MHST Managers
4.Encourage CYP Participation and Student Voice with service users
5.Delivering time limited interventions and treatments
6.Signposting to the cross-sector stakeholders
7.Attend regular MHST meetings or CAMHS multidisciplinary meetings where required
8.Formulation of MHST care plans for service user (in collaboration with Clinical Supervisor where appropriate)
9.Communications and completed correspondence
10.Engage with the internal and external network as appropriate
11.Participate in Multi Disciplinary Team activities
12.Risk assessment and risk management within remit of School Practitioner role
13.Safeguarding responsibilities (escalating to Supervisor or MHST Manager when needed)
- Make referrals as appropriate to other providers
15.Responsible for timely and accurate clinical record keeping
16.Responsible for the outcome of appointments
17.Report writing and GP letter writing
18.To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner
19.To keep up to date with knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues of relevance to the service and client group
20.To undertake any such other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grade of the post as agreed by the Team Manager

Skills
Essential
- Skills forming trusting professional relationships with children young people and their families.
- Capacity to develop skills for risk assessment and care planning
- Can demonstrate in practice the necessary skills to undertake a range of therapeutic interventions in clinical situations eg psychosocial and psychological interventions, including group work.
- Ability to form effective working relationships with people from a range of communities, ethnic groups and professions.
- An understanding of service user and carer perspective. Ability to problem solve.
- IT skills to navigate and learn different software applications such as Office, Canva, Social Media platforms etc.
Desirable
- Theoretical knowledge of the reasons why a patient’s presentation may be perceived as ‘difficult’ e.g. understanding the organizational, environmental and cultural context, as well as clinical issues such and physical and/or mental health problems.
- Knowledge and understanding of key components of clinical governance.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with children and young people in a clinical and/or educational setting.
- Experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers.
- Experience of communicating effectively with a wide range of client groups such as teacher and educational professionals.
- Experience of facilitating groups with children and young people and/or parents/carers.
- Experience of delivering psycho-educational workshops training in person and online.
- Awareness of Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult requirements
- Can demonstrate some knowledge of the principles that will govern decisions about risk/safety issues
Desirable
- Involvement in organizational projects such as audits, service user involvement etc
Qualifications
Essential
- Education to graduate level or equivalent.
- Child Wellbeing Practitioner or Educational Mental Health Practitioner.
Desirable
- Evidence of on-going professional development in the field of children and young person wellbeing
