Main duties of the job

The Role

As a Salaried GP, you will deliver high-quality NHS primary care while working closely with our wider multidisciplinary team and community partners.

About us The Chislehurst Partnership Partnership formed in July 2022, merging The Woodlands Practice and Chislehurst Medical Practice supporting the Chislehurst community of 24,000 patients. Both are high performing, well established GP practices in Bromley who are passionate about providing a friendly, supportive and caring medical service to our population. The Partnership aims to move into one premises in the future however for the time being we are operating from three premises all located within 1 mile radius.

Job Summary As part of The Chislehurst Partnership team, you will provide NHS primary health care to patients registered with the practice. This will also include a share of the Duty doctor rota, paperwork, prescriptions, medication reviews, results, medical reports (as appropriate), and visiting patients at their home as and when appropriate. You are expected to participate in practice activities including meetings and audits, as well as taking on a role in the development of the practice as outlined in your contract.

Primary key responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP in delivering health services.

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

c. To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice and any other local guidelines

d. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

e. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care

f. Effective management of long-term conditions

g. To support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care

h. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

i. Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways

j. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

k. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload and providing cover for annual leave where possible

l. Fulfil home visit requests as per protocol

m. To participate in both the duty and triage rota (pro rata for part time GPs)

n. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

o. Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans

p. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

q. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

r. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

s. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training

t. Be aware of your duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children

u. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

v. Prepare and complete the revalidation process to remain fit to practice

w. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

x. Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies

y. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

z. To be an integral part of the general practice team as well as supporting the wider network and multi-disciplinary team

There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

Wider responsibilities

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Salaried GP has the following wider responsibilities:

a. Participate in the spectrum of clinical governance processes

b. Participate in formal training events promoting best practice in area of expertise Provide leadership and education for members of the multi-disciplinary team, providing guidance and support when necessary

c. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
