Main duties of the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team, working Mondays and Tuesdays. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care through a combination of routine and urgent consultations, chronic disease management, home visits where required, prescription management, clinical administration, and participation in practice meetings and quality improvement initiatives. The role includes shared responsibility for both 1st and 2nd on-call duties on your working days, providing clinical support to the wider multidisciplinary team and ensuring the safe and effective management of urgent patient care. You will work collaboratively with experienced GPs, nursing staff, and the wider practice team to deliver excellent primary care services while contributing to the ongoing development of the practice.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care through a combination of face-to-face consultations, telephone consultations, home visits (where appropriate), and clinical administration. The role includes the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with acute and long-term conditions, while working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and effective care. The post also includes participation in the practice's on-call rota, undertaking both first and second on-call responsibilities to support the management of urgent clinical queries and same-day patient care. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high clinical standards and support the continuous development of practice services.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice (or be within 3 months of obtaining CCT at the time of application), or equivalent evidence of eligibility for inclusion on the GP Register.
  • Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List (or eligibility for inclusion before commencing employment).
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance (or willingness to obtain this prior to appointment).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to participate in the practice's first and second on-call rota.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in UK General Practice.
  • Excellent consultation, communication and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied clinical workload safely and effectively.
  • Experience of managing patients with acute, chronic and complex conditions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Competence in using GP clinical systems (e.g. EMIS Web).
  • Commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement and patient safety.
