Following the successful recruitment of ten GPs, Alness and Invergordon Medical Group continues to expand and develop. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated qualified GPs who are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and who would like to be part of a forward-thinking, supportive and evolving training Practice.
Based in Mid Ross in the Scottish Highlands, Alness and Invergordon Medical Group serves a population of approximately 13,000 patients and is situated within easy commuting distance of the city of Inverness. The Practice is based within modern premises on the Invergordon County Community Hospital site and in the neighbouring town of Alness. Located on the northern shores of the Cromarty Firth, this is an area that has recently been selected to host one of Scotland’s first green freeports. This is an exciting time for the local area with the winning bid helping to support growth and regeneration.
A typical GP day includes 10 to 12 X 15 minute appointments per session; including a variety of face to face and telephone. GPs will share out other work such as duty sessions, visits and patient -related admin. We work to offer GPs protected professional and practice development time.
Within the team we have a range of special interests including palliative care, lifestyle medicine, medical technology and medical education. We have been working closely with Medical Education Colleagues to develop and embed education and training within the practice; and have appointed an Education Lead from within the GP team to develop this further. GPs applying for this post should have an interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, junior doctors and allied health professionals.
The Practice has a fantastic wider team including Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Paramedic Practitioners, Practice Nursing and Health Care Assistants; alongside the extended multidisciplinary team including Pharmacotherapy, First Contact Physiotherapy, Primary Care Mental Health Workers and Community Link Workers (who specialise in social prescribing). Together with the support of our administration team we strive to ensure there is plenty of opportunity to share ideas and take them forward. The hospital also hosts GP OOH, MIU, in-patient ward, various out-patient and community clinics; and a new GP Walk in Centre.
