Job overview
Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust are looking for experienced GPs to join the Integrated Urgent Care Service (IUCS).
The overall aim of the Integrated Urgent Care Service is to provide a consult and complete model of care for people needing urgent care. The key features of the service include NHS 111, Clinical Assessment Service and Out of Hours services (face-to-face base and home visiting). The NHS 111 service will be provided by Health Advisors and Clinical Advisors hosted by our partner organisation, IC24. Where a senior clinical review is indicated, this will be completed within the Clinical Assessment Service, which will be jointly delivered by GHC Senior Clinical Leads based at Edward Jenner Court, Gloucester and remotely by IC24 CAS clinicians. The post holder will act as the Senior Clinical Lead for CAS and be part of the rota covering the service 24/7.
This role is offered on a permanent basis. We currently have a range of hours and shifts available during the week and at weekends, between 08:00-00:00. These can be offered as a fixed pattern.
Please note that enhancements are offered, please see attached, for out of hours working and any CAS Senior Lead hours attract 3% if salaried before the enhancements are then added. For any bank hours you will see the different rates attached for the two types of roles.
The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will work collaboratively with the service team and have oversight of all clinical queues across the IUCS pathway to direct patients without delay to the correct parts of the urgent care system utilising the Gloucestershire Directory of Service.
The Senior Clinical Lead will provide support and guidance to all colleagues across the service ensuring everyone is confident and supported to work to the top of their license.
As a GP working within the service they will use their clinical expertise and professional knowledge to assess and manage patients as part of clinical telephone triage, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality and patient centred service when in hours General Practice is closed.
Where required and available, the CAS will have access to direct booking into the Out of Hours bases and Home visiting service and work closely with other community services within GHC such as Minor Injury and Illness Units, Rapid Response and Evening and Overnight District Nursing. The CAS will provide an enhanced assessment supported by the NHS Pathways Clinical Consultation Support (PaCCS) module to identify clinical need/risk.
