Job summary

Would you like the opportunity to work in a busy, forward-thinking practice on the edge of Northampton?

Woodview Medical Centre is looking for a full-time or part-time Salaried GP (number of sessions negotiable) to join our friendly, supportive team on an initial 612 month contract, with the potential for future opportunities.

We pride ourselves on creating a positive working environment where clinicians are well supported. Our experienced nursing team operates an effective letter triaging system, significantly reducing GP administrative workload, while our efficient on-site pharmacy team helps streamline prescribing and medication queries, allowing you to focus on patient care.

You will be based in modern, purpose-built premises with an on-site pharmacy and dental practice, dedicated doctors' parking with full CCTV surveillance, and excellent access to major road networks.

The successful applicant will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care to our practice population, managing a broad spectrum of health conditions in a timely and efficient manner,

Main duties of the job

  • Provide general medical services in accordance with the GMS contract.
  • Conduct patient consultations (face-to-face, telephone and occasional home visits where appropriate).
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Promote health education and preventative medicine.
  • Undertake clinical procedures within scope of competence.
  • Review laboratory results and hospital correspondence, with letters already triaged to minimise administrative workload.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using SystmOne.
  • Work within agreed clinical protocols and NICE guidance.

Team Working:

  • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, allied health professionals and administrative staff.
  • Participate in practice meetings, clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support the supervision and training of medical students, GP registrars and other learners where appropriate.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in UK general practice or an equivalent setting
  • Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • IT literate, with experience using SystmOne
  • Understanding of NHS primary care, QOF, enhanced services and CQC standards
  • Professional, reliable and respectful approach
  • Flexible and adaptable

Qualifications

Essential

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
