Job summary
We are looking for a Salaried GP to join us for two sessions a week, working at the front end of our same day urgent access service. This is a new post, funded through the practice-level GP Reimbursement Scheme, created specifically to strengthen our capacity for patients who need to be seen on the same day.
If you enjoy acute, undifferentiated presentations and decisive same-day work, this post is designed around exactly that.
Main duties of the job
The role is two same-day urgent access sessions per week, delivering a dedicated same-day list of clinically urgent presentations. Each working day also includes 30 minutes for same-day home visits.
Sessions may be a mix of face-to-face, telephone and video consultations and home visits, depending on what the day brings.
Sessions may also include supporting the duty doctor, or covering the duty doctor role yourself, as service needs require - for example during colleague annual leave. We are happy to talk this through at interview.
We offer:
- Salary on the BMA salaried GP pay range.
- NHS Pension Scheme membership (Type 2 practitioner), with employer contributions on top of salary.
- Terms no less favourable than the BMA Model Salaried GP Contract.
- 6 weeks' annual leave plus bank holidays, pro rata.
- CNSGP indemnity for NHS clinical work; LMC levy paid by the practice.
- No out-of-hours commitment.
- A post that fits genuinely well around portfolio working, another salaried role, or locum sessions.
About us
We are a high QOF-achieving practice with a Good CQC rating, caring for around 7,200 patients from our purpose-built health centre at Maltby Joint Services Centre. Our team includes five GPs alongside an established nursing and administrative team.
We use the SystmOne clinical system with Anima total triage. As a GP training practice, we have an established culture of teaching, debrief and peer support. Our Partners are actively invested in clinical systems, governance and doing things properly.
About the fixed term
The post is funded through a new NHS scheme whose funding is currently confirmed to 31 March 2027, so we have matched the initial contract to that window. National guidance confirms the funding stays within core GP contract allocations beyond 2026/27, though the scheme's scope and value for future years are still to be agreed.
Our genuine intention is to extend the post or make it permanent if funding continues at a level that supports it, and we will confirm our position to you in writing by 1st March 2027 - well before the term ends. If funding were reduced rather than continued in full, we have built in the option to reduce sessions by agreement rather than end the post.
