Job summary

We're looking for a 6 session Salaried Partner to join our supportive clinical team. Main duties of the job

Provide high-quality, patient-centred medical care through face-to-face, telephone and remote consultations.

Assess, diagnose, investigate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in line with current evidence-based practice.

Prescribe safely and effectively, making appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services where required.

Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, supporting colleagues across the practice to deliver safe, efficient and compassionate care.

Contribute to the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services and other contractual and quality improvement initiatives.

Support the development of practice services, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities.

Participate in practice meetings, significant event reviews and ongoing service development.

Supervise, support and share knowledge with clinical and non-clinical staff where appropriate, contributing to a positive learning culture.

Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system.

Work in accordance with GMC guidance, NHS policies and practice protocols, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and patient confidentiality.

Joining as a GP with a view to Partnership, contribute to the ongoing development of the practice and, where appropriate, take an active role in leadership, service development and the future strategic direction of the organisation.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary medical services to registered patients.
• Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses.
• Undertake face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations.
• Carry out home visits where clinically appropriate.
• Prescribe safely and cost-effectively in accordance with national and local guidance.
• Arrange and interpret appropriate investigations.
• Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and community services.
• Promote preventative healthcare and health education.
• Manage long-term conditions in line with national guidance.
• Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records.
• Participate in safeguarding adults and children in accordance with practice policies.
• Recognise and manage medical emergencies.
• Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare assistants, reception, dispensary and administrative teams.
• Support colleagues in delivering safe, efficient patient care.
• Participate in MDT meetings where appropriate.
• Contribute to a positive, supportive and respectful working environment.
• Contribute to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services and other contractual requirements.
• Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement projects.
• Contribute to significant event analysis and learning.
• Support the implementation of national and local guidance.
• Maintain compliance with GMC standards and appraisal requirements.
• Participate in clinical governance activities.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of practice services.
• Support service redesign and innovation to improve patient care.
• Assist in developing practice policies and clinical protocols where appropriate.
• Promote efficient and sustainable working practices.
• Support mentoring, supervision and education of learners and colleagues where appropriate.

Following appointment to Partnership, responsibilities may include:

• Contributing to the strategic leadership of the practice.
• Supporting business planning and practice development.
• Participating in financial and operational decision-making.
• Helping ensure the long-term sustainability of the practice.
• Acting as a leader within the multidisciplinary team.
• Representing the practice at Primary Care Network and external meetings where appropriate.

The post holder will:

• Maintain full GMC registration and a licence to practise.
• Participate in annual NHS appraisal and five-yearly revalidation.
• Undertake mandatory training.
• Maintain appropriate medical indemnity.
• Work within GMC Good Medical Practice.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with UK GDPR and Data Protection legislation.
• Follow all practice policies relating to health and safety, infection prevention and control, safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusion.
