Job summary

Haverhill Family Practice is looking for a part-time salaried GP to work for our friendly, busy, town-centre practice, to cover maternity leave for between 9 to 12 months. The salaried GP is responsible for providing medical care and services to the practice population, managing a clinical caseload and dealing with a diverse range of health needs.

Main duties of the job

This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Face to face and telephone consultations (including e-consult)
  • Home visits
  • Administration
  • Complying with the practices contracts (PMS/enhanced services)
  • Education and training of junior/trainee clinical staff
  • Practise evidence-based medicine, in line with national and locally agreed guidelines
  • Conduct patient consultations during the practices clinical appointment hours
  • Undertake duty consultations on a rota basis
  • Triage patients presenting to the practice in person, by telephone and E-Consults
  • Check and sign repeat prescription requests
  • Check, manage and process patient test results
  • Prescribe in line with local and national guidelines

Essential

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
  • Be on the NHSE medical performers list

  • Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services;
  • Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;
  • Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.
