Job summary

Crocus Medical Practice is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team on a fixed-term maternity cover basis.

We are a progressive, patient-focused practice delivering high-quality, compassionate primary care. The successful candidate will work as part of a well-established multidisciplinary team, contributing to both day-to-day clinical care and the ongoing development of the practice.

Main duties of the job

At Crocus Medical Practice, the General Practitioner plays a central role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred primary care services. The post holder will work within a supportive, forward-thinking multidisciplinary team, providing a broad range of clinical services to a diverse patient population.

The GP will be responsible for managing both acute and long-term conditions, ensuring continuity of care, and contributing to the ongoing development of clinical services in line with local and national priorities. The role requires strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

In addition to direct patient care, the GP will contribute to quality improvement initiatives, collaborative working within the Primary Care Network (PCN), and maintaining compliance with regulatory frameworks including CQC standards.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Care

The GP will provide comprehensive, evidence-based medical care across a range of clinical settings, ensuring patients receive timely, appropriate, and effective treatment.

Consultation Delivery

  • Provide consultations using a variety of platforms including:Face-to-face appointmentsTelephone consultationsVideo consultationseConsult triage and responses
  • Adapt consultation style to meet the needs of individual patients, including those with communication barriers or complex health needs.

Diagnosis & Treatment

  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions using clinical expertise and evidence-based guidance.

  • Initiate and interpret investigations and act appropriately on results.

Long-Term Condition Management

Urgent and Same-Day Care

  • Provide urgent, same-day assessments for acute presentations.

Home Visits

  • Undertake home visits for patients who are housebound or clinically unable to attend the practice.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation after visits.

Medicines Management

The GP will ensure safe, effective, and cost-conscious prescribing practices.

  • Prescribe medications in accordance with:NICE guidelinesLocal formulary recommendations
  • Support deprescribing initiatives to reduce unnecessary medication use.
  • Work closely with the clinical pharmacy team to optimise patient outcomes.

Preventative Care & Screening

The GP will actively contribute to improving population health through preventative care initiatives.

Teamwork & Collaboration

The GP will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated, holistic care.
