Job overview
"The Salaried General Practitioner will be a key member of the Emergency Assessment and Access Services within the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), providing primary medical care to patients who self-refer or are referred from ED or NHS 111.
Each practitioner will be responsible for delivering high-quality primary medical services to patients streamed to the UTC.
The role is supported by a multidisciplinary team (MDT). The post holder will work closely with the MDT to proactively manage and anticipate patients’ future health needs, developing appropriate care plans with a strong emphasis on delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
The available sessions are Saturday 3pm to 10pm (2 vacancies), Sunday 8am to pm and Sunday 3pm to 10pm.

Essential
- Competent in the assessment and management of a wide range of clinical/ disease presentations
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and share care with multidisciplinary and community healthcare teams
- Advanced communication skills
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge and understanding of Clinical Governance/ Effectiveness
- Knowledge of National Agenda/ White paper guidance for the reform of care and support/ other relevant literature
- Knowledge and clinical application of recognised national guidance in the management of chronic and acute illness such as NICE guidance and BTS
Desirable
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, the aims and objectives of MFT including elimination of health inequalities, community empowerment with participation and involving staff
Experience

- Primary / Secondary prevention services
- Chronic disease management
- Experience of auditing your own work and agreeing best practice based on evidence

- Experience of planning in practice and professional development
- Commitment to real health improvement for disadvantage people and communities

- Experience of management

- Full registration with a license to practice with the General Medical Council
- Able to travel using own transport between sites

Qualifications & training
Essential
- Fully quality Doctor
- General Practice (Vocational Training Scheme) trained (or equivalent either by EU acquired rights or ratified by PMETB).
- Evidence of continued professional development
- English language proficiency equivalent to the standard required by the GMC (IELTS)
Desirable
- Membership of Royal College of General Practitioners or working towards MRCGP
- Other higher specialist qualifications
