Applications are invited for full time (48 hours/week) clinical fellows to rotate across the anaesthetic specialties. Previous clinical fellows have used the experience/competencies gained in this post to successfully support their CESR application through CESR/Article 14 application process and gain entry to GMC’s Specialist Register

The successful candidates will join a large consultant-lead medical workforce with 98 Consultants and 57 doctors in training/Fellows across MRI, St Mary’s, REH and Trafford Hospitals.

The post incorporates a 6-month rotation at north Manchester general hospital.

Main duties of the job

We provide secondary and tertiary care in many surgical specialties including vascular, pancreatic / renal transplantation, major head and neck, upper GI surgery, gynae-oncology and provide anaesthesia to the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.  MRI boasts the busiest renal transplant unit in the UK (over 250 transplants per year) as well as a busy live donor programme. We are 1 of only 7 UK centres to offer simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplantation and 1 of only 2 Trusts to offer peritonectomy. Our two emergency theatres are staffed by dedicated consultant anaesthetists throughout the extended working day with daily orthopaedic trauma lists and regular maxillo-facial trauma lists to provide for the busy emergency workload that the Trust receives providing excellent teaching opportunities. In addition, a day case surgical programme is carried out on the Trafford General Hospital site and is also home to the Manchester Elective Orthopaedic Centre. There is a dedicated acute pain service lead by a team of consultants.
