We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate midwives to join our maternity service.

This advert is specifically for Newly Qualified Midwives who are eligible for preceptorshipand who will be able to commence with a valid pin in the next 3 months.

Band 5 Midwives: NQMs, third-year students due to qualify in September2026, and experienced Band 5's joining our adapted preceptorship are welcome. You'll benefit from a structured, individualised preceptorship supported by a dedicated lead, helping you build confidence, knowledge, and integration. This highly regarded programme improves midwife retention and provides an excellent foundation for progression to Band 6.

The rotational model covers all areas including Delivery Suite, Antenatal Ward, Postnatal Ward, and Community. This ensures a sound foundation, helping you become a confident and competent practitioner.

You'll join an approachable team that values personalised care, teamwork and growth. Our commitment was reflected in our recent CQC inspection, where maternity services were rated Good.

Main duties of the job

Before interviews, an assessment centre will be held as part of a two-phase assessment process to select the most suitable candidates. A third phase may be required if there are similar scores across candidates.

As a dedicated midwife, your main duties will revolve around providing safe, clinically effective and individualised care to women and birthing people throughout their pregnancy journey.

Working collaboratively as part of a dynamic team, you will be involved in all areas of the maternity services.

Essential

  • 1) Please demonstrate your clinical skills, knowledge and practical experience across a broad range of maternity services
  • 2) Please demonstrate your experience in a UK maternity setting
  • 3) Please explain how you will use the preceptorship programme to support your transition to a qualified practitioner

Desirable

  • 1) Please describe your experience of supporting or mentoring junior colleagues, and explain what this role means to you in your practice.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1) BSc (Hons) Midwifery or equivalent qualification (include expected month and year of qualification if pending).
  • 2) UK NMC registration as a Midwife (state if active or awaiting PIN and expected activation date; do not include PIN number).

Desirable

  • 1) Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) training.
  • 2) Mentorship/Practice Supervisor or Assessor training (or equivalent).

Skills/Knowledge

Essential

  • 1) Please demonstrate how, as a Band 5 midwife, you will ensure your practice is guided by current evidence-based practice and the importance of this.

Desirable

  • 1) Competent in Venepuncture
  • 2) Competent in Cannulation
  • 3) Competenct in IV Therapy
  • 4) Competent in Perineal Suturing
