FIXED TERM until August 2027
Applications are invited for a fixed term Clinical Fellow post to join the Medicine for the Elderly Team in Angus, starting November 2026
The Medicine for the Elderly (MFE) service is based at Arbroath Infirmary and Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre (Forfar). There may also be the opportunity to support frail elderly Angus patients whilst they are in Ninewells hospital, working alongside the Angus MFE consultants. This will support continuity of care and ‘pull through’ of Angus patients into the Angus community hospitals
At present the Angus MFE service provides comprehensive cover to older in-patients in Ninewells Hospital including an acute frailty team and frailty unit, and acute MFE wards. There are an additional 52 community hospital beds providing inpatient assessment and rehab, split between Forfar and Arbroath.
Medicine for the Elderly is Tayside’s largest employer of Clinical Fellows and Speciality Doctors, and our team has a reputation for providing opportunities and career development in this career grade. It is also the stepping stone to Speciality Doctor posts for doctors without enough experience to apply for such posts.
This post is ideal for doctors looking for time away from training or a non-training career, where development, training and opportunities provided by these posts have many positives. The successful candidate can work fulltime or part time. Weekend and evening working is available, as is out of hours. These are entirely optional.
We are looking to offer this post at the earliest opportunity and would therefore encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. Interviews will be held as and when candidates apply.
