Job summary

An exciting developmental opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 secondment to work alongside the Cardiology Team Leader. We are a team of experienced and dedicated professionals who collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary clinical teams to deliver a diverse portfolio of innovative, high-quality research trials that help shape the future care of our patients.

The Research & Development Department supports a large and expanding portfolio of studies across multiple specialties. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Research Nurse or Senior Clinical Trial Coordinator to this Team Leader position. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the set-up and delivery of research trials and will thrive on the challenge of delivering high-quality cardiology research while ensuring achievement of new NIHR performance metrics through close collaboration with the Governance Team. In addition, applicants will be required to demonstrate previous line management experience.

The post will be based at the Heart and Lung Research Institute (HLRI) and Royal Papworth Hospital, located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

Main duties of the job

As a key senior member of the Research Team, you will be responsible for team line management, study feasibility, set-up, coordination and delivery of multiple commercial and non-commercial trials. Your duties include sponsor collaboration and communication with other stakeholders, working closely with your Governance facilitator on study set up activities and leading the research team on achieving study set up metrics.

You will ensure that specified milestones are achieved on time, that high-quality data is collected and that the trial is being conducted according to the ethically approved protocol and ICH-GCP E6 R3 standards.

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of commercial and non-commercial cardiology clinical trials supporting the cardiology research delivery team and current Team Leader.
