Job overview

Overview

Research is a rewarding and patient centred career! It gives you the opportunity to build on your clinical expertise & experience to make a real difference to the lives of our patients & their carers but most importantly to make a difference to countless more people in the future! This is an opportunity to truly play a part in shaping future healthcare in this country & across the globe!

  • Are you a registered adult nurse with a passion for research delivery?
  • Experience/interest in Acute and Chronic conditions?
  • Is it time for a new challenge in your career?

Answer yes to any of these questions and this could be the post for you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified registered Adult Nurse to join our Acute and Chronic Conditions research team, facilitating a range of studies across multiple specialties- all which contribute to improved outcomes and experience of patients health.

You will have a key working relationship with the Team Leader, other team members and Clinicians in developing a portfolio of studies. There will be opportunities to work on a variety of studies whilst helping to promote a research active culture within the acute and chronic conditions specialties at ELHT.

We are looking for someone who likes a challenge and can work autonomously when appropriate whilst contributing to the wider team. You should be a good communicator and be confident interfacing with patients & staff at all levels.

Main duties of the job

(please refer to Job Description)

You will be a registered nurse with current NMC registration, post-registration experience and interest in acute or chronic conditions with a broad range of nursing and skills. You may have worked in either acute or chronic care.

You will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and effectively manage your own time to fulfil these key responsibilities whilst also linking in with other team members to enable support for each other.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post will be based within the Acute and Chronic Conditions Research Team (ACC Team), supporting research studies within various disciplines including but not exclusively, Anaesthetics, ICU, Surgery, ED/Trauma, MSK, Stroke, Diabetes, Dermatology and Cardiology.  You will be working as part of our small, friendly team, responsible for identifying, recruiting and supporting patients throughout their research  journey.

The post is primarily based at Blackburn Royal Teaching Hospital. However, the post holder may also be expected to support trials at Burnley General Teaching Hospital and other Trust sites, to meet the needs of our patients and studies. Therefore flexibility is an essential attribute. Most of the research activity is undertaken Monday to Friday within normal office hours. However, research activity times may also vary and early starts (7:00 onwards) or late finishes (after 5pm) may be required to accommodate studies involving morning theatre lists & late running clinics. This will always be on a planned basis & a flexible working policy is in place. Our team ethos is to maximize the potential of our own, individual skills. We support each other to be the best we can be. Every member of our team is of equal importance and we welcome new ideas. Our focus is always on providing the best possible care for research participants in East Lancashire.
