We require an individual to join the NHS Fife Research & Development Team within the Research, Innovation & Knowledge Department to work part time across the organisation to support R&D research nurses and clinical investigators to run research studies within NHS Fife.
Activities will include involvement in supporting and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate research data. You will provide a comprehensive administrative support service and will work collaboratively with local NHS Fife investigators and the wider multi-disciplinary teams in the management of your own workload, with supervision from the existing R&D research nurses. The post will be supported by the R&D team and based within Research & Development, Victoria Hospital but with an expectation to work at QMH and other NHS Fife sites on a regular basis.
Clinical trials experience is desirable but not essential. You will have a basic knowledge of research principles, including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent, and ethical issues.
Attention to detail, strong administrative, organisational and communication skills in addition to excellent IT skills and a methodical approach are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work as part of a team. Ability to regularly travel throughout NHS Fife is essential.
This post will be on a 21-month basis in the first instance with the potential for extension based on activity.
Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be found here Hub • Blink (joinblink.com) If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed term post. External applicants, with continuous NHS Service, must also have in place a secondment agreement, from their existing board to apply for this post.
For further information please contact Karen Gray, Lead Nurse, Research and Development on 07867 331576 or email karen.gray14@nhs.scot.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
