We are recruiting for a Reporting Sonographer - Radiology who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
Our multi-skilled sonographer team rotate across all three sites and provide a 7 day emergency service at the Lister Hospital, which is our acute site and is working towards 7 day working at the New QEII hospital to support the newly established Community Diagnostic Hub.
We support sonographer development and training and our sonographers are valued members of multi-disciplinary teams across obstetrics, gynaecology, vascular, musculo-skeletal and general medicine.
We support flexible working and have shifts working weekends and evenings.
This post attracts a 10% recruitment and retention premium.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as an independent practitioner by performing ultrasound scans to a high diagnostic standard, formulating a report, and communicating the results to the appropriate clinician and to be accountable for own professional actions.
You will perform and report a wide range of ultrasound examinations, working within agreed protocols (abdominal, gynaecology including transvaginal scanning, obstetric, vascular, and paediatric).
You will possess the ability to make clinical judgements and critical decisions of the highest order, using knowledge, skills and experience.
The post holder will support ongoing professional development and encourage involvement with in-house training schemes to expand clinical experience.
There is also monthly in-house teaching and audit sessions where your participation is encouraged. Leadership is a shared function within our team, and we look to develop talent.

Essential
- Relevant post qualification experience in general abdominal, Obstetrics and Gynae scannin
- Commited to providing a high-quality service in a professional manner
Desirable
- Experience in small part, paediatrics, vascular or MSK scanning
Knowledge
Essential
- IT skills for CRIS, PACS and basic computer literacy
- Evidence of and willingness to use CPD to ensure high standard of care
- Ce prepared to provide theoretical and practical training in medical ultrasound including students, trainees, SpRs
Experience
Essential
- 1 year/agreed competence post qualification
- Experience in a range of ultrasound techniques
Desirable
- NHS experience
Qualifications/Training
Essential
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Hold postgraduate accredited qualification in medical ultrasound
Desirable
- Professional registration ( HPC or other)
- MSc in Medical Ultrasound
