Job overview

The Department has an extremely distinguished record in the provision of clinical services to patients with Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma, including Europe’s first Bone Marrow Transplant, pioneering work on familial donors and extensive involvement and leadership in national and international trials. Patients are predominantly referred directly from secondary care hospitals with results of diagnostic tests suggesting some form of haematological malignancy. The Department currently offers all treatment modalities (diagnosis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy) for patients with Acute Leukaemia, Myeloma and other plasma cell disorders, Lymphoproliferative Disease (LPD) and Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting post which will provide training and experience in the management of patients being treated with CAR-T cell therapies including the indication for CAR-T cell treatment,  selection of suitable patients, management of bridging therapy, the inpatient management of CAR-T cell patients and management of complications post CAR-T cell therapies and outpatient follow up.

This will also provide training and experience in management of patients undergoing both autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplant including stem cell mobilization, conditioning regimens, donor selection, management of infective complication and of Graft Versus Host Disease.

  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Full registration and license to practice with the General Medical Council

Desirable

  • Higher Degree (MD/PHD)

Experience

Essential

  • Previous NHS Experience
  • Experience in the management of patients with Acute Leukaemia and Myeloma and Lymphoma in particular, and of haematological malignancies in general

Desirable

  • Experience of transplantation, acute haematology and care of critically ill haematology patient.
  • Undertaken research in relevant field
