The role:

We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Acute Medical Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. This is a fast-paced and rewarding environment where you will deliver high-quality, person-centred care to patients presenting with acute medical conditions. You will work closely within a supportive multidisciplinary team, playing a key role in patient assessment, care planning and clinical decision making. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Full Time, Permanent

Base Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital

Shift Pattern: Monday to Sunday, Rotational Days and Nights, 12-hour shifts

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess patient needs and plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based programmes of care
  • Deliver high-quality, safe and effective nursing care to patients with acute medical conditions
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support patient flow, including admission transfer and discharge
  • Provide clinical leadership guidance and support to junior staff and students
  • Maintain accurate patient records in line with NMC standards and organisational policies
  • Support and participate in education, training, audit and continuous service improvement
  • Contribute to the day-to-day organisation of the unit, including managing resources, equipment and staff allocation

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and willingness to undertake further training
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support patients, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high standards of care
  • Previous experience in an acute or healthcare setting would be advantageous
