Job overview

The Black Country Recovery College are looking to recruit a  Facilitator that will support the co design and co delivery of the Recovery College classes across the College network, managing all elements of course coproduction and planning and the continued development of the Recovery College curriculum.

The candidate would need to hold a Level 3 Diploma/NVQ level 3 qualification or above, in either education, health and social care or vocational or equivalent qualifications in addition to being committed to undertaking continued professional development.

The role will require knowledge and an understanding of a range of health and social services provision in addition to knowledge of recovery and Recovery Colleges and experience that will support the Recovery College curriculum including the arts, wellbeing, gardening, digital skills, literacy and numeracy.

The post holder will have personal experience of delivering classes or group activities, mental health challenges, through family or own lived experience, empathy, compassion and patience and a keenness to make a positive contribution to the recovery of students through learning and empowerment and be prepared to travel across the Black Country in a timely manner.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role involves co-designing and co-delivering classes to Recovery College students in accordance with the ethos and quality standards of the College, to participate in the curriculum development and evaluation of the Recovery College, to participate in the development of coproduction within the Recovery College, to participate in the delivery of Recovery College promotion within the Black Country, to work with external partners as appropriate in designing and delivering Recovery College classes, to conduct Information and Guidance sessions alongside volunteers for new students, to undertake student one to one meetings and learning assessments including “Getting to know you” and “Where are you now” reviews and to work to enhance the quality and ethos of the College in all aspects of the service development and delivery.  Post holders are required to work across the Black Country in Recovery College bases.

Essential

  • NVQ level 3 or working towards or equivalent qualifications and demonstrable experience
  • English and Maths Grade C or 4 and above
  • Lived Experience
  • Experience of delivery/facilitating group activities face to face and online
  • Experience of evidence based course development
  • Experience of coproduction
  • Experience of using IT equipment
  • Experience of working with a diverse group of people with mental health needs

Desirable

  • Level 3 - 5 PTLLS, CTTLS, DTTLS, Education and Training Qualification or equivilant
  • Experience of working in a learning or mental health recovery environment
