An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Moorfields Private Division for a Reception Administrator. Moorfields Private is the London-based private division of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This role plays a key part in our patient journey, supporting to ensure we deliver customer service to our patients which compliments the provision of high quality private eye care services.

As a Reception Administrator, you will spend a lot of time on your feet helping both patients and our clinical team to ensure each day runs smoothly. It’s a job that will keep you busy, but you’ll be working as part of a dedicated and approachable team. You will not just be sat behind a desk all day and speaking to patients and clinicians will be a key part of the role.

You don’t need any previous experience working in healthcare. We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic, friendly, polite and caring, and who enjoy working as part of a team to achieve a common goal.

The role is shift based between the hours of 0745 and 2100. The roster is done on a rotational basis with a mix of early, mid and late shifts to accommodate business needs.

Main duties of the job

To manage the private reception area ensuring efficient and accurate recording of required information and communication of this information to the relevant department as appropriate.

To maintain accurate information on the Compucare system.

To direct patients to the cashier’s office.

To be a point of contact for enquiries from patients and ensure that these enquiries are processed in accordance with established procedures

To advise private outpatients who are using chargeable Hospital services as to the costs involved, ensuring as far as possible that these are charged for correctly and paid for either in advance or on the day of service.

To assist in the development of procedures, to ensure standards of verbal and written communication are met.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To assist the Practice Managers in creating medical records for the patients where required, ensuring they have up to date registration information and labels.

To assist with co-ordination of outpatient appointments with relevant departments and be involved with the booking of patients to consultants routine clinic lists.

To order and maintain stationery supplies, ensuring that the area is adequately supplied.

To maintain workload and other relevant data as required. Distribute the patient satisfaction questionnaires.

To comply at all times with the requirements of the Health & Safety regulations and to take responsibility for the health and safety and welfare of others in the working environment.

To ensure confidentiality on all matters, and information obtained, during the course of employment.

Any other duties as designated by your manager and which are commensurate with the grade.

Essential

  • Able to prioritise workload and work independently
  • Demonstrable communication skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the PAS and Compucare systems
  • Intermediate Excel and Word qualification

Experience

  • Customer facing experience
  • Proven record of working to deadlines

  • Payment handling experience
  • Experience as a receptionist or host role

Education/ Qualifications

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English
