Job overview
An RDC is a weekly half-day clinic to assess patients who have presented in primary care with vague symptoms (also known as non-specific or concerning symptoms) and the GP is concerned there is a reasonable risk of cancer. The clinic is for patients who do not fit the criteria for a current site-specific urgent suspected cancer pathway.
The aim is that all patients will leave the clinic with either a diagnosis of cancer, a serious non-cancer diagnosis or the reassurance of a non-serious diagnosis. They will also have a management plan, where appropriate.
The post holder will provide support to speciality clinics, in the assessment and management of patients, liaising with the wider respiratory team and community services in the treatment and care of patients with tuberculosis. They will also provide telephone support for patients and families with regard to appointments, home visits where appropriate and support at Out-patient venues.
