JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: Site Lead Radiographer

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Assistant Clinical Services Manager, Radiology

JOB SUMMARY

The Post holder will assist in the provision of a high quality and effective service whilst providing the optimum quality of care to patients.

KEY RESULT AREAS / MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder will

Maintain patient privacy and dignity at all times and behave in a manner demonstrating care and compassion to patients and their escorts.

Escort patients within the Department and guide them to the correct sub-waiting area.

Assist with changing, personal hygiene, moving, and handling of patients.

Willing to work in all imaging modalities under the supervision of a Team Lead.

Develop competency in the use of departmental IT systems, for example, RIS, NIPACS, e-procurement etc.

Act as chaperone during specialised imaging examinations e.g. Ultrasound.

Reassure patients before, during and after imaging procedures.

Responsible for stock ordering

Observe patients and provide basic patient monitoring.

Undergo in-house training and competency assessment in IV cannulation.

Removal of intravenous cannula following the completion of imaging procedures.

Assist with general housekeeping to include the removal of laundry etc.

Inform the relevant clinical staff if concerned regarding a patient’s condition and seek help immediately should a medical emergency arise.

Attend mandatory training and training updates as required.

Work within the limits of own competence and responsibility and refer issues beyond these limits to Team Lead or a departmental nurse.

To participate and contribute to the Radiology Quality management System, and corresponding Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) accreditation process.

General Responsibilities

The post holder will

Work in a co-operative and collaborative manner with other staff to ensure smooth running of imaging sessions.

Report any incidents or concerns involving patients, staff or equipment.

Participate in the Trust’s appraisal conversations.

Monitor and ensure levels of stock, linen etc. are maintained for the relevant departmental areas.

Take receipt of deliveries and store items for use.

Undertake end of year stocktaking as required.

Dispose of waste in keeping with the Trust Policy on Waste Management.

Participate in flexible working arrangements to include working on evenings/weekends and Bank Holidays subject to the needs of the Department.

Work in a safe manner with regard to the use of Ionising Radiation complying with relevant Trust/Departmental policies.

Undertake duties, which are required to ensure adequate standards of environmental hygiene and prevent cross infection.

SALARY £22,816 - £24,336 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)

HOURS

Normal full-time hours of duty are 37½ hours per week, exclusive of meal times

MEDICAL

Appointment will be subject to a successful pre-employment health assessment.

27 days each year; 29 days after 5 years’ service; 33 days after 10 years’ service and 10 statutory and public holidays.

PENSION

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

You will serve a probationary period of normally six months.

WAITING LIST

A Trust-wide waiting list may be compiled for similar permanent/temporary, full/part time posts which may arise within the next 12 months.

PAY PROTECTION
