An exciting opportunity has become available within the breast imaging department at St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a fixed term Band 7 Mammographer post.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated radiographers with an interest and a UK recognised qualification in mammography to join our hard working and friendly team in this busy Breast Imaging Unit. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as is the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment. You must be comfortable working under pressure, ‘multi-tasking’ and liaising with multi-disciplinary teams.
The strongest resource we have is the team, who are enthusiastic, friendly and highly skilled and comprise Radiographer's ,Assistant Practitioners Radiologists, Breast Care nurses and Advanced Practitioners. This is underpinned by a commitment to continuing professional development for all staff and actively encourages involvement in training and audit.
Main duties of the job

This post includes involvement in breast screening clinics at St Georges Hospital and the 5 satellite screening units around South West London along with participation in Assessment and Symptomatic clinics. It is therefore essential that you are able to travel to any of these sites and are resident within reasonable travelling time of both St. George’s Hospital and our remote site locations. You must hold a UK recognised Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography. We are housed in a purpose built facility, providing a light, modern environment from which to deliver a fully digital service. Due to the nature of the work this post is open to female applicants only. This provision applies under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 section 7(2) (d).

- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, (written and verbal), including the ability to deal with highly sensitive information and to deal with anxious and demanding clients/patients using tact, diplomatic and persuasive skills in order to obtain co-operation

- Ability to interact within a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge
Essential
- Demonstrate a high level of theoretical knowledge including knowledge of the current Ionising Radiation Regulations
- Awareness of NHS targets that affect Breast Imaging
- Comprehensive knowledge of current issues and the development of theprofession and contemporary issues
- High professional/radiographic standards with attention to detail
- Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
- Flexible approach to working practice
- Self-Motivated
Experience
Essential
- Relevant experience in a hospital setting
- Post graduate training and work experience in Mammography
- Experience in supervision and training of less experienced radiographers, students and departmental staff
- Experience of the daily management of a defined work area
- Must have a working Knowledge of IR(ME)R and Health and Safety Regulations.
Desirable
- Radiography experience over a wide range of specialist procedures
- Experience with clinical audit
Qualification and Training
Essential
- BSc(Hons) Radiography or equivalent
- UK Post Graduate qualification in Mammography
- Current HPC registration
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development in line with personal development plan
Desirable
- Demonstrate knowledge of QA in Mammography
- Advanced practice qualification e.g. “Practice education and mentorship” OR “Interpretation & Reporting in Mammography”
