Quality & Safety Midwife (PMRT)

We are looking for a motivated and organised Band 6 Midwife to join our maternity Quality and Safety team, supporting the delivery of patient safety, governance, and perinatal mortality review processes across York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an excellent opportunity for a registered midwife with an interest in governance, learning from incidents, quality improvement, and improving outcomes for women, birthing people, babies, and families. Working under the direction of the Governance, Quality and Patient Safety Lead, you will support incident monitoring, PMRT processes, The ATAIN programme, audit activity, data collation, reporting, and the dissemination of learning across the multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will play an important role in supporting timely, accurate, and compassionate review processes, helping to identify themes, monitor actions, and contribute to improvements in maternity care. You will work closely with clinical, governance, bereavement, and multidisciplinary colleagues, maintaining high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and communication at all times.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking someone who is detail-focused, compassionate, confident with data and documentation, and able to communicate sensitively in complex situations. You will be supported to develop your knowledge of governance, PMRT and ATAIN, audit, quality improvement, and national maternity safety requirements while contributing to a positive culture of learning and improvement.

Main duties will include:

• Supporting PMRT coordination, data entry, case review preparation, and reporting requirements.

• Assisting with incident monitoring, escalation, Duty of Candour processes, and governance documentation.

• Supporting audit, data validation, action tracking, and identification of themes and learning.

• Contributing to quality improvement activity and dissemination of learning across maternity services.

• Working collaboratively with clinical and governance colleagues to support safer, high-quality care.

Applicants must hold current NMC registration as a Registered Midwife and have experience working within maternity services. Experience of governance, audit, PMRT, incident review, or quality improvement processes would be an advantage, although support and development will be provided.
