Job overview
Join our Quality Control team as a Quality Control Analyst and play an important role in supporting the safe and effective delivery of Pharmacy Technical Services. This is a varied, hands-on laboratory role involving microbiological testing, environmental monitoring and the processing of environmental samples, alongside supporting the day-to-day operation of the Quality Control laboratory.
We are looking for someone with laboratory experience who is organised, methodical and has excellent attention to detail. You will need to work confidently both independently and as part of a team, follow procedures accurately and maintain high standards of documentation while working within cGMP and cGLP requirements.
An interest in microbiology and pharmaceutical quality control, together with a commitment to learning and developing your technical skills, will help you succeed in the role.
Working across the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Pharmacy Quality Control service at Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, you will join a specialist team where your work directly contributes to maintaining the quality and safety of pharmaceutical services. The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical Quality Control and microbiology experience within a busy NHS pharmaceutical environment and build your knowledge and skills for future career development.
Main duties of the job
As a Quality Control Analyst, you will undertake a range of routine and non-routine Quality Control activities that support the safe and effective delivery of Pharmacy Technical Services. A key part of the role will be performing environmental monitoring of the Aseptic unit, including processing and reading environmental monitoring samples, accurately recording results and escalating results that require further investigation or action.
You will also assist with investigations into out-of-specification and out-of-trend results and communicate QC findings clearly and effectively to colleagues within Quality Control, Aseptic services and the wider Pharmacy team.
The role also involves supporting the effective running of the QC laboratory. This includes operating and monitoring laboratory equipment, assisting with calibration activities and temperature mapping, maintaining equipment and technical records, monitoring laboratory temperatures and supporting the review and update of procedures and test protocols. You will be expected to produce accurate and complete documentation and work in accordance with cGMP, cGLP, Data Integrity, health and safety requirements and departmental procedures.
