Job overview

Do you have experience engaging with communities? Would you like to bring your skills to our supportive, innovative, high achieving public health dietetic team at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board?

These posts will be based at Glanrhyd or Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda and travel across the Cwm Taf Morgannwg geographical footprint.

The opportunity has arisen to employ 2 Dietetic Assistant Practitioners to work with communities to deliver a range of community based initiatives; utilising a range of agreed approaches to support positive changes to food, nutrition, and physical activity behaviours.

We will consider full time, part-time and flexible working arrangements.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see ‘Welsh Language Guidance’ in the documents right at the bottom.

Main duties of the job

Post holders will be leading on our Cwm Taf Morgannwg wide roll out of the PIPYN (Pwysau Iach Plant Yng Ngymru) healthy weights programme and will be expected to support other areas of Public Health Dietetic service delivery based on service and population health needs.

Successful candidates will need to apply a whole-system, human-centred approach to healthy weights, recognising the social, environmental, and personal factors that shape people’s health and lived experience, to deliver sustainable outcomes.

They will also be responsible for providing evidence based age appropriate information across children, young people and families, to support achievable and sustainable positive behaviour change within our communities. This will include utilising behaviour change and motivational interviewing techniques to encourage goal setting as a family.

These posts will work alongside fellow Dietetic Assistant Practitioners in Public Health Dietetics, under the guidance of the Senior Public Health Dietitians. They will receive weekly supervision sessions with a registered dietitian and will work closely with a range of partner agencies to promote positive healthy lifestyle behaviours.

All post holders will work relatively independently, working to an agreed framework with a degree of autonomy and will be responsible and accountable for these tasks.
