This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy talking therapies service as a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and contribute to the provision of a stepped-care service for psychological problems.
The post is based at St Leonard’s Hospital in Hoxton. Full-time staff are expected to work on-site two days per week and work remotely three days per week.
City and Hackney Talking Therapies is a well-established service with a commitment to quality and service innovation. You will be joining a team of 40 PWP’s, Trainee and Senior PWP’s and 40 High Intensity Therapists with ready access to specialist supervision. We also have good links with regional clinical/counselling psychology training courses and substantial in-service training programmes.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for delivery of a range of psychological assessment and low-intensity interventions for our clients living in the Borough's of City & Hackney. These include: one to one protocol based treatments of common mental health problems, guided self-help, online CBT programs and psycho-educational group workshops.
We have a well-established long term conditions team of PWP and HI Therapists with opportunities for further training in this area, and a dedicated frontline staff pathway for frontline staff impacted by the current pandemic. Staff are actively encouraged to engage with outreach work within the community and with service – related research.
The service has a strong focus on staff wellbeing within the context of talking therapies service provision, with opportunities for continued professional development.
Candidates must have (or be working towards) a PG Certificate in Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment for adults or equivalent.

Knowledge
Essential
- Broad background knowledge of the NHS, Local Authority, primary care and voluntary sector provision and the legislative frameworks underpinning the provision of health and social care
- Detailed understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems and their carers.
Desirable
- Understanding of clinical mental health conditions and their responsiveness to talking therapies
- Understanding of long term conditions and rehabilitation
Experience
Essential
- Experience of building a relationship / face to face contact with people with emotional difficulties
- Experience or understanding of working with a diverse range of communities (e.g. black and other minority ethnic groups)
- Experience of engaging groups or individuals with little knowledge of the subject matter
- Working with Primary Care staff within a medical / health setting
Desirable
- Experience of carrying out health or other promotion work in the community
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Skills/Abilities

- Ability to build and sustain cross-discipline / sector relationships
- Analytical – able to interpret data and synthesise information from different sources
