An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic experienced qualified Psychological Therapist to become part of the integrated mental health and justice pathway team within HMP Norwich .
Day care is designed to support individuals presenting with risks of self‑harm, suicide, and self‑destructive behaviours. Delivered in a safe and therapeutic setting separate from the prison wings, the service provides structured and creative psychoeducational and therapeutic group interventions. These interventions are tailored to individual needs to promote learning, skill development, and sustained behavioural change.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join a continually developing service, that offers therapeutic approaches underpinned by DBT, CBT and other psychological approaches. The service offers treatment pathways to address, mood stabilisation, anxiety, relationship management, emotional regulation, personality difficulties and trauma.
Specifically working with men who may self-harm, have attempted suicide, and/or experience high levels of anxiety or trauma/PTSD. The role includes having an active contribution in reducing self-harm, self destructive and violent behaviour, working closely with partner agencies
The successful applicant will require excellent therapeutic skills, cultural competency and be able to be responsive and flexible in working within the busy prison environment.
