Job summary
We have the opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Registered Pharmacy Technician/Science Manufacturing Technician to join the Pharmacy Technical Service team at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and contribute to the implementation of the Pharmacy Services strategy, striving for excellence to provide the highest standards of care.
The Pharmacy Technical Services team primarily provides aseptic preparation of medicines (including chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, adult and neonatal parenteral nutrition preparation) for patients of the Trust. The main duties include preparation of aseptic products for patients, dispensing of outsourced products, stock management, generating worksheets, and liaising with day case units to support the efficient running of the service to patients.
As well as being motivated and enthusiastic, the successful candidate must able to well work under pressure and as part of a team. Previous experience of working in an Aseptic Services Pharmacy environment is desirable.

Main duties of the job
- Deputise for the Specialist Technicians in their absence.
- Supervise the work of Pharmacy Technicians, Students and Pharmacy Assistant: maintaining standards of service and ensuring completion of all specified documentation.
- Preparation of non-sterile medicinal products for specific patients e.g. suspensions, creams, ointments, powders etc.
- Preparation of sterile medicinal products for specific patients in a laminar flow cabinet / isolator in a controlled clean room environment e.g. parenteral nutrition and chemotherapy treatments.
- The above two duties involve preparation of worksheets, accurate assembly of raw materials, dosage calculations, accurate measurements using balances, graduated measures and syringes. These operations require a high degree of manual dexterity, and competencies will be continually assessed.
- Check components on assembled batch trays for sterile products before processing
- Check labels produced for sterile, non-sterile and re-packaged products, including chemotherapy, before processing or assembly.
- Supervise the re-packaging carried out by Pharmacy Assistants according to standard operating procedures.
- Deputise for the Specialist Technicians in their absence.

Job responsibilities
- The successful candidate must be a registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council/Science Council as a Pharmacy Technician/Science Manufacturing Technician and as such hold a Level 3 Qualification in Pharmacy Services
- Certificate of Accreditation as a Checking Technician
- Significant Post Qualification Experience
- Physically able to perform the duties of the post i.e. working within a Pharmaceutical Isolator and accessing stock from high and low shelving
