This is a structured progression post from Band 4 to Band 5, with a clear development plan, mentorship, you’ll manage medicine ordering, liaise with suppliers, maintain stock availability, and help deliver cost-effective, safe, and efficient pharmacy services.

Main duties of the job

To supervise the Pharmacy Procurement and Distribution department, supporting the efficient and effective procurement and distribution of medicines.

Ensure that all legal and departmental practices including Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs), MHRA Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Distributors, COSHH, Lifting and Handling Regulations and all Trust Policies and Procedures are followed.

To supervise and oversee the training of all operational staff within the procurement and distribution department.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Qualification & Registration

Essential

  • NVQ & BTec level 3 or Apprenticeship in Pharmaceutical science/studies
  • Registration with GPhC
  • Final accuracy Checking (ACPT)

Desirable

  • Hospital experience
  • Experience in use of CMM (JAC) pharmacy computer system
  • Line management experience
