NHS GG&C Older People’s Psychology Service (OPPS) are pleased to advertise a Principal Clinical Psychologist role within East Dunbartonshire’s Older People’s Community Mental Health Team.
The main base of operations is in Woodlands Resource centre, Kirkintilloch with clinic time also being spent in other clinics within in East Dunbartonshire.
This post sits within the NHS GG&C East Dunbartonshire Mental Health Service. OPPS provides a highly specialist service to older people within the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde area. Operational management is within the East Dunbartonshire HSCP and professional management is via the Older People’s Psychology Service and the Psychology Directorate.
The post reports to an Operations Manager and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

Key responsibilities:
You would be a valued member of a Multidisciplinary mental health team comprising of Psychiatry, Nursing, Occupational Health and Business Support colleagues. The team has established Clinical Psychology input and will enhance the existing resource to allow the delivery of highly specialist Psychological Therapies and Neuropsychological Assessment in a timely and efficient manner and support psychological care within the CMHT.

There are regular opportunities to contribute to service development, audit and research priorities. Mental Health Psychology Service are a board wide department who value collaboration and development of staff within their roles.
You will be required provide a specialised clinical psychology service which supports the development and delivery of psychological interventions and therapies (PI/PTs) to Older People across all sectors of care; providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
