Job overview

Are you an experienced and dynamic leader with a passion for mental health services and operational excellence? Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Primary and Psychological Services Business Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high-quality services across Dorset.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the business management function across all of the teams within the Primary and Psychological Mental Health Services Portfolio. You will work closely with senior managers, clinical leads, commissioners, and external partners to ensure services run efficiently, meet performance targets, drive forward transformation within the portfolio and deliver outstanding care for our communities.

We are looking for someone with proven experience in health service management, ideally within a mental health setting, and a strong track record in project delivery, financial management, and stakeholder engagement. You will be confident in handling complex information, influencing change, and leading teams to achieve ambitious goals.

In return, we offer a supportive environment, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to make a real difference to the primary and psychological mental health services.

We are committed to supporting flexible ways of working. Flexible hours and hybrid or remote working arrangements will be considered, subject to service needs.

Main duties of the job

As Business Manager, you will:

  • Provide strategic and operational support to the leaders in the portfolio, driving service development and improvement.
  • Lead on information management and reporting, ensuring robust data quality and compliance.
  • Manage budgets and financial forecasting, ensuring services deliver within agreed resources.
  • Oversee the Business Support Team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Develop business cases, respond to tenders, and explore new opportunities to enhance service provision.

Please note visa sponsorship for this role is unfortunately not available. Ensure you hold valid right to work in the UK and will not require sponsorship if successful.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

For the main duties and responsibilities for this role please read the attached job description and person specification.  When completing your application please ensure your supporting statement reflects the criteria set out in these documents by showing how your experience and skills apply to this post.

We understand that using AI can be a useful and supportive tool when completing your application.  However, we have also seen an increase in the over-reliance of AI tools which is negatively impacting applications as they remove candidate’s individuality, and it becomes much harder to get a sense of who you are and your authentic experience.  If you do use AI, it should be used to enhance your application and not to create your supporting statement in its entirety.  If we suspect you have used AI to create your supporting statement and this does not match your experience, we may withdraw your application.

As part of our vision to have a skilled, diverse and caring workforce, Dorset HealthCare offers support for people getting into work. We offer an employability service to support individuals with application writing, interview skills and other employment support.
