The pregnancy advisory service works within the outpatient clinical area, which sees a high turnover of patients.

Previous gynaecology experience would be considered an advantage but not essential as training will be provided for those candidates that demonstrate a keen interest in women’s health.

The successful applicant will have a positive, caring attitude and excellent communication skills.

You will be committed to the Hull University Teaching Hospital’s NHS Trust Vision and Values to provide excellent evidence-based care and be motivated to learn and share new ideas for improving the patient experience. Flexibility and teamwork are essential for the role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a member of the Pregnancy Advisory Team to deliver an expert nurse-led pregnancy advisory service to patients from initial consultation to discharge.

As a nurse specialist within a defined sphere of practice the post holder will undertake a range of duties to ensure the effective delivery of care, including undertaking specialist procedures and providing specialist advice and ongoing support to the patient group.

The post holder is responsible for providing termination of pregnancy and sexual health advice, pre-treatment assessment and post treatment support to the patient group.

The post holder will establish clear lines of communication with hospital and primary healthcare teams in order to increase knowledge and facilitate a unified approach to patient care.

The post holder will contribute to the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.
