The postholder will act as a senior clinical specialist of the Pre-Treatment area in the Radiotherapy Service, supervising the daily running of the designated area: managing and co-ordinating workload & staffing.

The postholder will lead a designated team and projects, and will work clinically, maintaining a high level of expertise in their designated area of the Department, both during normal and extended working hours.

The postholder will work with the Senior Radiotherapy Team and the other Team Leaders to ensure the smooth implementation of new technology.

The postholder will contribute to the development and implementation of Quality Assurance Programmes within the Specialty, ensuring that protocols specific to one’s area of responsibility are both in use and regularly reviewed & updated.

The postholder will ensure that staff and students working in one’s area of responsibility are given adequate training, development and guidance to ensure the safe and effective treatment of patients according to the Consultants’ prescriptions and Departmental protocols.

The postholder will contribute to recruitment, retention & development of staff - undertake staff interviews, appraisals & development of PDPs and will participate in staff support, through clinical supervision or other appropriate system. As such, you will be required to manage staff performance including sickness absence management and to support the disciplinary & grievance procedures.

• Participate in clinical audits and assist with collation of data necessary to the quality assurance requirements.
• Participate in service improvements, develop departmental policies and local work instructions.
