We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse for our Staffing Bank here at Spire Bushey Hospital in the Pre Assessment department. This role would suit candidates who are looking for a work/life balance and are very flexible.

Spire Bushey Hospital forms part of a 4 site portfolio, and is supported by and works alongside Spire Bushey Diagnostic Centre, Elstree Cancer Centre and Spire Pathology Centre – based on Centennial Park in Elstree - just 5 minutes from the main hospital site.

Duties and responsibilities

As a Pre-Assessment Nurse, you'll help ensure patients are clinically prepared and fully informed ahead of their procedure.

• Conducting comprehensive pre-operative assessments
• Triaging and assessing patients to ensure suitability for surgery
• Identifying and escalating potential clinical concerns
• Supporting safe, personalised patient care throughout the surgical pathway
• Providing clear information and reassurance to patients and families
• Working collaboratively with consultants, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams
• Contributing to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Who We’re Looking For:

• Current NMC registration with no restrictions on practice
• Previous experience within a Pre-Assessment setting – Private Hospital or NHS hospital
• Phlebotomy, venepuncture and ECG competency
• Pre-Operative Assessment Association qualification or training
• Acute healthcare experience
• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Good IT and electronic patient record skills

Working Hours: 08:00-18:00- Mondays - Fridays

Contract Type: Bank ad-hoc shifts
